46th Kano International Trade Fair Opens, Attracts Historic Local and International Investors
The 46th Kano International Trade Fair officially opened on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, drawing an unprecedented number of investors from within Nigeria and across the globe, all united in the drive to boost the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Declaring the fair open, the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Debt and Revenue, Dr. Ibrahim Nagwandu, said the Federal Government has introduced robust policies to support financing for SMEs, agricultural production, skills acquisition, and digital training, in addition to strengthening the value-addition chain. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to creating opportunities for entrepreneurs across various sectors.
In his remarks, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Investment and Commerce, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, commended the organisers for the successful arrangements of the 46th Trade Fair. He disclosed that the Kano State Executive Council has approved ₦5 billion for SME development and an additional ₦3 billion for the reconstruction of five strategic roads within Singer Market, aimed at enhancing the business environment and easing commercial activities.
Similarly, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Nura Rimi, assured continued support for the trade fair and SME-driven initiatives to ensure sustainable economic outcomes.
Earlier in his address, the President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), Ambassador Usman Hassan Darma, said the fair serves as a platform for partnerships, collaborations, and the growth of trade among international investors, industries, and SMEs. He highlighted the opportunities for technology exchange, innovation, and talent development among participants.
The Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa Command, Abubakar Dalhatu Zurmi, noted the command’s recent national awards in public relations and revenue generation. He pledged continued collaboration with KACCIMA and the business community to advance commercial activities in the state.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Moh’d Ibn Na’Allah, alongside NACCIMA’s representative, Ahmad Rabi’u, also pledged increased support and cooperation for the growth of commerce and industry.
Officials from Dangote Group, BUA, Bank of Industry, AA Rano, NCC, several financial institutions including Ja’iz Bank and Taj Bank, as well as the FIRS, NDIC, Bank of Agriculture, MoMo Agent, and international investors from China, Chad, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Bangladesh, reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with SMEs for sustainable economic development.
This year’s trade fair is themed “Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises for Sustainable Development.”
