Kano Designs 14 Points Agenda To Reposition Education Sector

In its commitment to ensure effective delivery of sound education, Kano State Government has come up with 14 Points Agenda which would be implemented under the state ministry of education.

Presently, the administration has commenced the implementation of the 14 points agenda by organizing a two day Train the Trainer Programme aimed at re-branding the Leadership and Management of the state education sector.

The training programme organized by Kano State Government in collaboration with Educational Leadership and Management Academy Nigeria (ELMAN) as well as Partnership For Learning For All in Nigeria at Kano Central Hotel, drawn participants from the State Ministry of Education and it’s Parastatals.

In a keynote address presented today Monday, at the opening of the programme, the State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa maintained that as the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf places highest priority on education, serious measures are being taken to ensure that education sector regains it’s lost glory.

” From the inception of this administration, efforts are being made to address challenges undermining the progress of the state education sector and of these measures is the introduction of 14 points agenda which includes among others giving sound training to our staff on leadership and management ” he said.

In a statement signed by Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry, Doguwa maintained that the government had declared it’s total support and commitment in ensuring that the 14 points agenda are fully implemented to reposition the education system for the benefit of younger generations.

According to the Commissioner, participants of the training were selected based on merit and believe that if given the training, they would come back and deliver the knowledge to other staff to ensure quality education in the state.

Doguwa added ” Government has full hope on you and it is because of this believe that you are chosen to come for this training. You should make sure that what brought you here is what you concentrate on to achieve the desired results “.

Umar Doguwa disclosed that due to the changes brought by the administration under the state education sector, Development Partners are now coming to register their total support in promoting the education sector.

He urged the participants to use the opportunity given to them by sharing the knowledge learnt to others to enhance staff performance.

In his welcome address, the state lead Partnership For Learning For All in Nigeria (PLANE) Umar Lawan said PLANE is a programme that is dedicated towards equipping teachers with necessary tools and knowledge to provide excellent education to students.

Umar explained that the steadfast dedication of the administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf in improving education, provided them with confidence to collaborate with government to achieve remarkable success in the state education sector.

” I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Kano State Government for it’s unweaving support and collaborative spirit which moved the education sector to a greater height, ” he maintained.

While assuring the commitment of the programme organizers towards having fruitful outcome, he emplored the participants to seize the opportunity given to them by engaging with facilitators to acquire the intended knowledge.
