Kano Governor Calls for Ethical Practice Among Online Media.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has charged online media operators to adhere strictly to the principles of ethical journalism in the discharge of their professional duties.

The governor gave the charge through the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, while declaring open a two-day workshop organised by the Kano State Government and held in Dutse, Jigawa State.

Governor Yusuf acknowledged the growing influence and powerful role of online media in information dissemination, stressing that practitioners must use the knowledge acquired from the workshop to promote positive change in society. He also called on the leadership of the Kano Online Media Chapel to strive for more opportunities for its members and to ensure greater professionalism and sanity within the profession.

Earlier in their remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, and his Jigawa State counterpart, Comrade Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse, described the workshop as a welcome development. They urged participants to always uphold journalistic ethics and to advocate for unity, peace and community development while carrying out their responsibilities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kano Online Media Chapel, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, commended the Kano State Government and the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs for organising the workshop. He assured of the commitment and dedication of online media practitioners in Kano State towards achieving better and more professional results in information dissemination.
