Kano South: Tribunal Dismisses Petition By Kabiru Gaya, Upholds Kawu Sumaila’s Victory


The National and State House of Assemblies Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano State, has dismissed the petition by APC’s Kabir Ibrahim Gaya, challenging the victory of Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of NNPP for being grossly Incompetent.

Leading the judgement Monday in Kano, the Chairman of the 3 led justices, Justice R.O Odogu upheld that the petitioner failed to discharge the burden of prove against him.

“We find no merit in this petitioner and accordingly hereby dismissed.

“We similarly affirmed the declaration of Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of NNPP as winner and valid candidate of the Kano South Senatorial District election, held on 25th February 2023.”

Tribunal Judgment: Atiku Did Not Congratulate Tinubu – Aide

At the end of the judgement it was concluded that, “the sum of N200,000 cost is hereby awarded in favour of the Respondents against the Petitioner.”

Bluepen News, recalled that Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya who is the former Governor of Kano State during the 3rd Republic, is challenging the victory of Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of the opposition NNPP, before the election petition tribunal in the state, for the election held on 25th of February 2023 in the Kano South Senatorial District.
