NUJ Kano Provides Office for Online Media Practitioners, Honours Prominent Personalities.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has provided an office for the Kano Online Media Chapel at the NUJ Press Centre, Farm Centre, Kano.

The development took place during a dinner organised by the union for its members, during which several prominent individuals were honoured for their contributions to the growth of journalism and information dissemination in the state.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, said that the Kano State Governor has approved the training of members of the association to enhance their professional capacity. He urged members to make effective use of the NUJ facilities and work closely with the union’s leadership in line with professional ethics.

In his remarks, the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, expressed pride in the laudable initiatives of the NUJ Kano leadership. He commended the council for promoting professional development, fostering unity among journalists, and supporting widows, orphans, and sick members, describing the programmes as worthy and impactful.

At the ceremony, awards of recognition were presented to the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya; the Director General, Media and Communication to the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa; and a former Commissioner for Information in Kano State, Comrade Baba Halilu Dantiye.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ Kano State Council, Comrade Suleman Abdullahi Dederi, assured that the union would continue to implement people-oriented and welfare-driven policies aimed at improving the wellbeing and professional standards of journalists in the state.
