NUJ Kano Trains 50 Journalists in Capacity-Building Workshop

As part of activities marking the ongoing Press Week in Kano, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has organized a capacity-building workshop for 50 journalists drawn from various media organizations across the state.
Speaking during the training, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Suleman Abdullahi Dederi, said the workshop was designed to equip upcoming journalists with essential skills that will enhance professionalism and improve the standard of their work.

A seasoned journalist and Senior Special Assistant to the Kano State Governor on Media, Alhaji Mustafa Muhammad, presented a paper on safety strategies for reporters while covering news assignments.
Hajiya Amina Yahaya Deen of the Mahasa Radio and Television also delivered a presentation on techniques and principles of translating news from English to Hausa.
Additionally, an official of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Kano, Alhaji Adamu Salisu, lectured participants on broadcast media regulations and ethics.

Participants including Rufaida Ibrahim of NTA Kano, Rahama Khamis Yamadawa, Muzammil Muhammad Kunyar Asabe of Radio Kano, Mubarak Isma’il Madungurun of ARTV, and Zainab Gabari of Freedom Radio expressed appreciation, noting that the training broadened their knowledge and would positively impact their work and colleagues.
The Managing Director of Radio Kano, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu Rano, and his counterpart from Hikima Media, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Inya, urged the trainees to apply the skills acquired and share the knowledge with others in their various organizations.
They also commended the NUJ Kano Chairman, Comrade Suleman Abdullahi Dederi, and the council leadership for organizing the impactful training aimed at improving journalism practice in Kano State.
