One Kano Agenda has commended the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for presenting what it describes as one of the most courageous and people-focused budgets in the state’s history—the ₦1.368 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Press Centre in Kano, the Director General of One Kano Agenda, Ambassador Abbas Yakasai, said the size of the budget and its clarity of purpose reflect a government that fully understands the urgency of rebuilding the state, correcting years of neglect, restoring public trust, and setting Kano on a path of sustainable growth.

According to him, the 2026 budget makes history with an unprecedented 68 percent allocation to capital expenditure, underscoring Governor Yusuf’s commitment not only to governance but to genuine transformation. He highlighted key sectoral allocations, including ₦405.3 billion for Education, ₦346.2 billion for Infrastructure, and ₦212.2 billion for Health.
“These are not just figures; they represent rebuilt classrooms, equipped hospitals, improved road networks, expanded water supply, and a stronger foundation on which future generations of Kano will stand,” Yakasai stated.
He described the budget as “a statement of intent, a roadmap for recovery, and a clear signal that Kano is ready to rise again,” praising the administration’s strategic foresight and commitment to transparency, accountability, and value-driven governance.
Ambassador Yakasai also applauded the Governor’s uncompromising stance on security, noting that his declaration that criminals and bandits have no refuge or operational ground in Kano is timely and reassuring at a period when parts of the country are battling insecurity.
He commended the renewed synergy between the state government, security agencies, community vigilante groups, and local intelligence networks, saying these efforts have boosted public confidence and helped deter criminal activities.

“Security of lives and property is the foundation of development, and we praise the state government’s continued investment in surveillance systems, patrol logistics, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency collaboration,” he said, urging sustained support from all stakeholders.
As a movement rooted in unity and civic engagement, One Kano Agenda called on youths, civil society groups, community associations, traditional institutions, policy advocates, and political actors—regardless of party affiliation—to prioritize the collective interest of Kano above personal or partisan considerations.
“The future of our state is too valuable to be sacrificed on the altar of division or political rivalry,” Yakasai stressed.
He encouraged civil society organizations and youths to serve as active watchdogs by monitoring project implementation, promoting responsible citizenship, and contributing to peace and community development. He further urged the private sector, religious bodies, and professional associations to collaborate with the government to ensure maximum impact from the budget.
Describing the 2026 budget as a collective victory, Ambassador Yakasai said it offers renewed hope for students, farmers, women, youths, traders, artisans, and workers across Kano who deserve improved services and greater economic opportunities.
He called on the Kano State House of Assembly to give the Appropriation Bill urgent and patriotic consideration to ensure timely passage and immediate commencement of key projects.
“One Kano Agenda reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting visionary leadership, promoting unity, and mobilizing citizens toward a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Kano State,” he said.
He concluded with a prayer for continued peace, unity, and progress in Kano State.
