ONE KANO AGENDA Warns PENGASSAN Over Sabotaging Dangote Refinery

By Nura Bala Ajingi, Kano

The One Kano Agenda civil society organisation has accused the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) of attempts to sabotage Nigeria’s economy and disrupt operations at the Dangote Refinery.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kano, the Director-General of the group, Ambassador Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, said the association’s actions could undermine one of the country’s most critical economic ventures.

Ambassador Yakasai explained that the One Kano Agenda is committed to promoting the overall development of Kano State and Nigeria at large. He accused some members of PENGASSAN of working against the business interests of Kano-born industrialist Aliko Dangote, despite his immense contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth across multiple sectors.

According to him, Dangote’s investments—particularly the refinery—have significantly reduced Nigeria’s dependence on foreign nations for essential commodities and energy needs.

The group therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and caution PENGASSAN against actions capable of crippling the refinery’s operations and sabotaging national economic progress.

One Kano Agenda also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s economy and reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that Kano State and its people continue to experience sustainable growth and development while resisting any attempts to undermine their progress.
