Our Constitution Nullifies Caretaker Committee Formed Illegally In Kano – RTEAN

The National President of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ambassador Muhammad Isah Mai Takobi, has declared that the association’s constitution clearly stipulates that only the national leadership has the authority to constitute a caretaker committee, not any arm of government.
He made this statement shortly after a peace meeting with members held at the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano.
Ambassador Mai Takobi explained that the meeting, chaired by the Kano State Director of the State Service and attended by all the factions within the state chapter, resolved that every member should mentain previous statue core.

According to him, this resolution effectively nullifies the caretaker committee earlier formed by the Ministry of Transport, which he described as illegal and beyond its jurisdiction, while restoring the former executives whose tenure has not yet expired.
The national president further stated that those involved in the dispute were both serving in the state council would also continue in their respective capacities.
He revealed that security operatives and the national leadership of RTEAN, cautioned the Deputy Chairman in charge of operations, Comrade Auwal Bello Isma’il Danhajiya, and his counterpart in charge of administration, Comrade Yahaya Abdullahi Maiduniya, along with their supporters, to maintain peace and unity within the union.

Ambassador Musa Mai Takobi added that, the DSS convened the meeting primarily to ensure lasting peace and cooperation among the warring factions.
He emphasized that the national headquarters of RTEAN remains the only body empowered to organize fresh elections into the association’s leadership, not any other authority.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, the Director of Transport Operations, and the legal adviser to the ministry.
