Free Antenatal Care : Kano Govt Disburses Medical Items To Hospitals Worth N10m

Kano State Government has disbursed free medical commodities worth Ten Million Naira to Secondary and Primary Health facilities across the state.

The Commissioner Ministry of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf stated this Thursday, at the Symbolic flagg-off of the distribution of free antenatal care items, held at the Drugs Medical Consumables and Supply Agency (DMCSA) in the Metropolis.

He said in the Month of October of the outgoing year, hospitals in the state has recorded the total number of thirty Six thousand, eight hundred and eighty eight (36,888) women who attended antenatal care.

He mentioned that five thousand one hundred and fifty deliveries have been recorded, out of which five hundred and sixty (560) had delivered through the Caesarean Section CS.

Applauding the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf toward prioritizing the effectiveness of the health sector, the Commissioner also disclosed that the provision of commodities for the remaining month of the year was already approved by the Governor.

On his part, the Executive Secretary Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda who said the items are designated for free usage to pregnant women going under antenatal care, as well as treatment of emergency and victims of the accident, he promised that the Board under his watch will not let anybody to sell out or make any personal use of the commodities across the state health facilities.

He said a monitoring committee will go round to the facilities to make sure the items are used judiciously, adding that the Board through it’s tradition of surprise visit is supervising in 24 hrs every day, to ensure that the medical items are utilized accordingly.

The ES further commended the state Governor who enabled the Ministry of Health and KHETFUND to provide the free medical items to the hospitals in the state. He called on the beneficiary facilities to ensure its proper usage.

Kano Govt Vows To Resume Medical Outreach Soon

During the event, Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital, Yadakunya General Hospital, Minjibir General Hospital, Kwankwaso General Hospital and Wudil General Hospital received the items. The Primary Health facilities including Dala MCH, Ja’en MCH and Rijiyar Lemo MCH have also received.
