The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to deepening collaboration between Katsina State indigenes residing in Kano and the people of Kano State, with the goal of enhancing security and driving sustainable economic development across both states.
Waiya made the remark while receiving a delegation of Katsina State indigenes living in Kano during a courtesy visit to his office. He noted that relations between the people of Kano and Katsina have long been anchored in history, mutual respect, and shared cultural values—an enduring bond that continues to promote peace and progress.

In a statement signed by Sani Abba Yola, Director of Special Duties, Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs said the commissioner stressed the central role of the Ministry of Information in bridging the gap between government and the public by formulating strategic policies and leading sensitization campaigns to tackle emerging social challenges. He added that the ministry would continue to deploy its communication platforms to foster unity, encourage community participation, and create opportunities for collective problem-solving.
Waiya assured the delegation of the Kano State Government’s full support for their initiatives aimed at improving security and strengthening economic activities within Kano, Katsina, and beyond. He commended the group for their contributions to peacebuilding, cooperation, and the promotion of prosperity between the neighbouring states.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Katsina State Indigenes Residents in Kano, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Yar’adua, and the Acting Chairman of the Association, Professor Aminu Kado Kurfi, said their visit was to explore practical measures for boosting safety and security, especially in border communities affected by recent challenges. They added that expanding economic opportunities remains essential to the well-being of citizens in both states.

The leaders also pledged their readiness to support government initiatives through constructive advisory inputs that promote unity, good governance, and development. They further noted that the community has the numerical strength to mobilize up to 400,000 votes in the forthcoming general elections in support of government efforts.
