Kano NUJ Supports Ailing Members, Families of Late Colleagues

As part of activities marking the ongoing Press Week, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, on Tuesday paid a humanitarian visit to sick members and families of deceased journalists.
The delegation, led by the Council Chairman, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, visited several ailing journalists, including former NUJ Vice Chairman Comrade Abbas Maje; Ado Ibrahim (DY); Kabiru Salisu Koki of the Ministry of Information; Hajiya Hajara Muhammad of Pyramid Radio; Muhammad Ibrahim, a former staff of Radio Kano; Ibrahim Aminu of ARTV; and Mustafa Hodi of the Correspondents’ Chapel.
The team also visited the families of late Comrade Abduljalal Haruna, former NUJ Chairman; the late Sule Magaji Beli; the late Muhammad Hassan Hungu, a former Radio Kano staff; and the family of the late Munir Diso of ARTV. During the visits, the union offered financial support and prayed for the repose of the deceased as well as quick recovery for those battling health challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Comrade Abbas Maje and Amina Sule Magaji Beli expressed gratitude to the union for the gesture and for remembering them during the Press Week.
The Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Planning Committee and NUJ Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustafa Gambo Muhammad, said the intervention was part of the union’s commitment to the welfare of its members, adding that similar visits would continue in the future.
