A Kano-based philanthropist, Hajiya Asiya Abdullahi, has launched a skills acquisition programme aimed at empowering youths, women and orphans to become self-reliant.
Speaking on Kano Radio’s “Gudumawar Mata” programme anchored by A’isha Usman, Hajiya Asiya said many talented young people were idle due to lack of jobs or trades. Through her company, ASLAM Incense Perfumery and More Company Limited, she is offering training in tailoring, perfume and incense production, and other vocational skills.
She said the initiative targets hundreds of orphans and vulnerable youths, equipping them with skills and support to start small businesses. “When people come together to support youths, we can build a better future for all,” she said.
Hajiya Asiya called on wealthy individuals, business owners and community leaders to partner with her by funding training, providing mentorship and investing in youth-led enterprises. She stressed that skills training is as important as formal education for community development.
