KNSG Warns Private Schools Against Improper Fees Increment

Kano state government have threatened to close down private schools that increased school fees without government’s approval.
The executive secretary of Kano state Private and Voluntary Institutions, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar gave a warning, while briefing our correspondent in a voice note sent via phone.
Alhaji Umar said that the law of the board established in 2014 stated clearly that increment of school fees must be approved by government and parents teachers associations of each school, otherwise schools can be sanctioned through legal action.

He also warns private schools owners to avoid enforcing parents to buy text books, uniforms, cardigans or other unnecessary materials will not favour studies directly from the schools.
He insisted that the board will exercise it’s mandate to ensure compliance of the law but not be use to intimidate the owners.
He called on parents to make enquiries of board’s approval when notified on the increment of school fees by the school they enrolled their children or wards.
Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar urged parents to pay school fees as at when due, to give owners opportunity to run their schools effectively.
