Novelty Match: NUJ Kano Team Defeats Correctional Tigers 2–1

The Football team of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Kano State Council, on Saturday defeated the Nigeria Correctional Tigers football team 2–1 in a novelty match held as part of activities marking the ongoing NUJ Press Week.
The Correctional Tigers took the lead late in the first half, but the NUJ squad mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, scoring two goals to secure the victory.
Speakingafter the match, the coach of the Correctional Tigers, CSC Tijjani Abubakar, expressed satisfaction with the competitive spirit displayed by both sides. He, however, alleged that certain manoeuvres influenced the match outcome and vowed to return stronger in future encounters.

Meanwhile, NUJ team coach, Nura Garba Jibril, who had earlier predicted victory for his side, expressed delight over the team’s performance. He praised the players for their dedication, discipline, and teamwork throughout the encounter.
Chairman of the NUJ Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, applauded the NUJ players for what he described as an outstanding performance. He also pledged that the Council would organise similar with Kano State House of Assembly next week and inter-chapel matches next year to promote unity, health, and sportsmanship among journalists.
