The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Employer Branch, Kano State chapter, has cautioned individuals attempting to cause confusion within the association by referring to anyone other than the duly recognized National President, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Maitakobi. The association warned that such actions could attract legal consequences.
The Chairman of the Kano State chapter, Comrade Auwal Bello Isma’il Danhajiya, gave the warning while addressing journalists in Kano.
According to him, two separate court judgments, including a ruling by the Court of Appeal, have affirmed Dr. Musa Muhammad Maitakobi as the authentic National President of RTEAN. He described the ongoing attempts by certain individuals to undermine Maitakobi’s leadership as acts driven by envy and malice.
Comrade Danhajiya emphasized that based on the association’s constitution and labour laws, the decision of the Court of Appeal represents the final authority, binding on all members, regardless of personal sentiments.
He expressed disappointment over attempts by some disgruntled elements to instigate division within the association, particularly in Kano—the home state of Dr. Maitakobi—out of jealousy over his emergence as the first national president from Northern Nigeria in over 47 years.
The Kano RTEAN chairman stated that the association would ensure that anyone found culpable in orchestrating unrest or disunity in the leadership structure would be brought before the appropriate authorities.
Comrade Danhajiya also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to partnering with the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to improve transportation services and create employment opportunities for thousands of youths. He called for full cooperation and support for the government to achieve these goals.
