Commissioner Waiya Flags Off Five Day Capacity Building for Radio Kano Reporters, Editors, Pledges Digital Equipment, Retraining for Govt Media Staff

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on Monday flagged off a Five-day Professional Capacity Building Workshop for Reporters and Editors of the Kano State Radio Corporation held at the station.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Waiya pledged to do more in retraining staff of government-owned media organisations with modern journalism skills. He also hinted at the possibility of supplying them with digital equipment to enhance service delivery.
The Commissioner commended the Managing Director of Radio Kano, Comrade Abubakar Adamu Rano, for organising the workshop and for his efforts in uplifting the station’s operations.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Comrade Abubakar Adamu Rano, said the initiative was designed to update staff with contemporary knowledge needed to tackle present-day challenges in broadcasting.
The resource person for the training, Director of Moving Image Company, Abdulkarim Mohd, said participants would be taught modern journalism techniques through class discussions and active participation. He expressed confidence in achieving better outcomes at the end of the exercise.
Also speaking, the Director of the News and Current Affairs Department, Comrade Nura Bala Ajingi, commended the Commissioner and the Managing Director for supporting capacity building and improved service. He appealed to the Commissioner to provide iPhones and motorcycles to the participants, as was done for Information Officers.

The workshop has 53 participants. Training for Reporters will hold Monday and Tuesday, while Editors will be trained Wednesday and Thursday, while programme will conclude on Friday with a closing ceremony and presentation of certificates.
