The Defence Headquarters has issued a strong warning regarding the planned nationwide protest, suggesting it aimed to reflect the ongoing unrest in Nigeria’s sister Country Kenya.
In a press briefing held in Abuja on Thursday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, indicated that intelligence suggests the protest could be hijacked by unscrupulous elements.
Warning those mobilising for a nationwide protest that while it is their right to protest, it will not condone anarchy.

According to Gen Buba “The aim of the protest is to replicate the situation in Kenya, Currently, the protests in Kenya are marked by violence and remain unresolved”.
“Based on gathered intelligence, there are plans by certain elements to hijack the nationwide protest and incite violence. We must be cautious and count our blessings to avoid such a scenario here”, he further warned.
